EVENT REPORT

When: Saturday May 20- Monday May 22 (Victoria Day weekend) 2023

Where: Executive Airport Plaza Hotel, 7311 Westminster Hwy, Richmond, BC, V6X

Sections: Premier(FIDE & CFC rated), U2000, U1600. U1300, U900 (all CFC rated)

Time Control: G/90 + 30 sec increment

Rounds: Saturday 12:00 noon, 5:00pm, Sunday 10:00am, 5:00pm, Monday 10:00am, 3:00pm

Prizes: $8000 Guaranteed Prize Fund

Premier Section: $1400, $850, $500, $300, $100; U2200 $500, $300, $100

U2000 Section: $800, $450; U1800 $300, $200

U1600 Section: $400, $300; U1400 $200, $150

U1300 Section: $275, $225, U1100 $125

U900 Section: $125, $100

Top Unrated (highest score from any of U1600, U1300, or U900): $125, $100, $75

Prizes will be paid out by PayPal or Interact withing 48 hours after the event.

Entry Fee:

Early Bird (registered and paid on or before Monday April 10): $90

Registered and paid on or before Monday May 15): $105

Free to those with FIDE rating 2400+ who register by April 10.

On Site: NO ONSITE REGISTRATION

You may play up a section to 200 rating points above your rating. Add $20 if playing up and your rating is withing 100 points of the section boundary. Add $40 if playing up and your rating is withing 200 points of the section boundary. The playup fee for unrated players (no regular cfc, USCF, FIDE, FQE rating) is waived for the U1600 and U1300 Sections. If you are unrated but have an online rating of 1300 or higher at chess.com or 1500+ at lichess we recommend playing in the U1600 section. If 1000+ at chess.com or 1200+ at lichess, we reccomend the U1300 section. 2nd & higher entries from one family receive a family discount of $30. Free Entry to those rated over 2400 FIDE provided you register by May 1st, otherwise EF deducted from prize (if any).

Accommodation: Executive Airport Plaza Hotel 1-604-278-5555 or 1-800-663-2878 $199 /night single/double. Free parking / WiFi for guests. Quote "Keres Memorial Chess Tournament" to get the rate. The room block will be released April 20.

Transportation: By car, parking $8.00/day or $22 for 3 days (must purchase ticket(s) from organizer). By Skytrain to Brighouse station, then ~10 minute walk.
